70 years ago today, the Sud Aviation SE 210 #Caravelle first took to the skies in Toulouse. The world’s first twin engine passenger jet, it was adopted by 32 airlines for its comfort and reliability. The Caravelle was no exception to the long tradition of innovation at Airbus and was an aircraft of many firsts (all weather landing capability, rear engines, hydraulically assisted servo controls ).

Airbus announces leadership changes in its Commercial Aircraft business, which will take effect on 1 July 2025. Rémi Maillard , currently President of Airbus in India and South Asia, is appointed Executive Vice-President Engineering of Airbus’ Commercial Aircraft business. In this role, Rémi will also be Head of Technology for Airbus and lead and coordinate all research & technology activities across the Company. Rémi will be a member of the Commercial Aircraft leadership team and report to Commercial Aircraft CEO Christian Scherer. Rémi will replace Sabine Klauke who is taking over a newly-created role of Head of Digital Design Manufacturing and Services (DDMS) “Next Gen”, overseeing the development and implementation of this critical enabler across Airbus’ divisions. Sabine will report to Executive Vice-President Digital Catherine Jestin . Rémi Maillard’s succession as President of Airbus in India and South Asia will be announced at a later date.
